Sarah left a Big Four audit floor in 2016 with a single conviction she could no longer ignore: that the firms doing the most interesting work in Britain were being served by accountancy built for a different century. She opened Ahmed & Co. above a café on Harborne Road with one laptop, one client, and a refusal to send a single timesheet-shaped invoice.

Eight years on, the firm guides technology and professional-services businesses through their first three years of growth, the years when a founder most needs a finance partner who speaks plainly and answers the phone. Sarah built the practice around advisory rather than compliance, and around the belief that clarity is itself a service.

She still takes the first call with every new client. “The numbers are the easy part,” she says. “The hard part is making someone feel they finally understand their own business. That's the whole job.”
