What I aim for

Practice Insider targets WCAG 2.2 level AA. In practice that means the publication should work with a keyboard alone, with a screen reader, at 200% zoom, and on a phone held in one hand on a train.

What that covers

This statement applies to practiceinsider.com, the publication, reviews, events, and Profiles, including the nomination forms. My internal editorial dashboard is not public and is not covered here.

What I have done

• Semantic HTML with a single, ordered heading structure on every page.
• Visible focus outlines on every interactive element, never suppressed.
• Form fields with real labels, and errors announced rather than only coloured.
• Interactive targets sized for touch, at least 44 by 44 pixels.
• Body text at a comfortable measure and contrast, on a warm off-white ground.
• Charts carry text alternatives; nothing is conveyed by colour alone.
• Profiles works without JavaScript, filters are an enhancement, not a gate.

Where I know I fall short

I would rather name these than imply the site is perfect:

• Some older editorial images have adequate but thin alternative text. I am rewriting them as those pieces are next edited.
• I have tested with VoiceOver on macOS and iOS. I have not yet tested with JAWS or Dragon, so there may be issues I have not found.
• I have not commissioned an independent audit. This statement reflects my own testing, which is a weaker guarantee.

Telling me something is wrong

If any part of this site is hard to use, email editor@practiceinsider.com. Tell me the page and what happened; I will reply within five working days and fix what I can quickly. If you need something here in a different format, a profile read out, a document as plain text, ask and I will send it.

Enforcement

I am a private publication, so the Public Sector Bodies Accessibility Regulations do not apply to me, but the Equality Act 2010 does and I take it seriously. If you raise something and are not satisfied with my response, say so and I will escalate it internally rather than letting it sit.

Reviewing this statement

Reviewed at least annually, and whenever a significant part of the site changes.
